This test measures the level of apolipoprotein B, a protein component of low-density lipoprotein (LDL), very low-density lipoprotein (VLDL), and chylomicrons that helps transport cholesterol and triglycerides throughout the body, to help assess the risk of cardiovascular disease and monitor lipid-lowering therapies. A high level of this is associated with an increased risk.
